Several safety protections are offered to allow the speaker to operate under all conditions. The TFA9894 increases acoustic output while monitoring membrane displacement and voice coil temperature making sure they do not exceed their rated limits. In addition, advanced signal processing ensures that the quality of the audio signal is never degraded by unwanted clipping or distortion in the amplifier or speaker.
The TFA9894 can adapt to changes in the acoustic environment by allowing the adaptive sound maximizer algorithm to use feedback to calculate both the temperature and the excursion accurately. The device utilizes battery protection by limiting the supply current when the battery voltage is low. This protection prevents the audio system from drawing excessive load currents from the battery, which could cause system undervoltage.
The devices present excellent audio performance and high supply voltage ripple rejection with the featured second order closed loop architecture. The TFA9894 amplifiers communicate using control settings via an I2Cbus interface and an audio input interface is TDM. The TFA9894 High-Efficiency Class-D Audio Amplifiers are offered in a 48-bump Wafer Level Chip-Size Package (WLCSP) with a 400μm pitch.
